What waste carrier software actually does

Waste carrier software is not a licence portal. You still hold an upper- or lower-tier waste carrier registration with the Environment Agency, NRW, SEPA or NIEA. The software is how you run the round: assign jobs, put EWC codes and quantities on the driver’s phone, produce a waste transfer note, and give the receiving site a carrier name and registration number they can put on a DWTS record.

WEEE Manager was built for that loop. Office staff create jobs. Drivers see them in the WEEE Manager Android app. Live GPS shows the office where the vehicle is, with a 14-day replay. Walk-round checks are logged per driver, vehicle and shift.

Collection scheduling, bins and the customer portal sit on waste collection management software. Licence basics: waste carrier licence explained.

How a round runs from office to tip

The receiving site’s problem becomes yours on 1 October 2026 in England and Wales even if you are not yet in Phase 2. Incomplete paperwork at the gate slows the vehicle and the site.

Who this is for — and who it is not

Built for licensed carriers, skip firms that haul, WEEE collection crews and mixed fleets. Not a substitute for applying for a carrier registration, and not the receiving-site DWTS product on its own — though the same WEEE Manager tenancy can cover both if you run a yard and a fleet.

Waste management software pricing

Price follows team size. Features do not. Unlimited waste notes, cloud hosting, daily backups, support and DEFRA DWT-ready records on every plan. No setup fee.

DEFRA also charges £26 a year per legal entity that creates or edits Digital Waste Tracking Service records once the service is mandatory. That fee is the government’s, not ours. Full table on waste management software pricing.

Common questions

Licence versus software, Phase 2 dates, and what the office sees while the round is live.

What is waste carrier software? +

It is the operations system a registered waste carrier uses to run jobs, drivers, routes and waste transfer notes. It is not the Environment Agency registration itself. WEEE Manager stores the carrier name and waste carrier registration number on each movement, assigns jobs to drivers, tracks vehicles on GPS and produces the notes a receiving site will need for DEFRA Phase 1.

Do waste carriers need DWTS in October 2026? +

Not under Phase 1. Carriers, brokers and dealers are in Phase 2, planned as mandatory from October 2027. The sites you tip at will already be in Phase 1 from October 2026 in England and Wales, so they will want complete digital details on every inbound load. Waiting until 2027 leaves you typing pads at the gate.

Does the software replace my waste carrier licence? +

No. You still register as a waste carrier with the Environment Agency (or the equivalent in the devolved nations). The software records that registration number on jobs and notes so receiving sites and DWTS records are complete.

What does a driver see? +

A My Jobs list, job details with EWC codes and quantities, one-tap navigation, a 21-point walk-round check, team chat, refuel logging and GPS that the office can follow. Download and screens live on the WEEE Manager app page; the operational case for a driver app is on the waste management driver app page.

How much does waste carrier software cost? +

WEEE Manager hosted plans start at £120 a month for up to three users. The Android app, unlimited notes and GPS are included. There is no extra “fleet module”.
