What DEFRA means by compatible software
DEFRA publishes a list of software that can report receipt of waste to the Digital Waste Tracking Service. WEEE Manager appears on that list. “Listed” means the product can talk to the service through the intended API route. It is not a guarantee that your permit, your classification or your site procedures are correct. Those remain yours.
A temporary spreadsheet upload exists on the government service while API onboarding continues. DEFRA has indicated that route is expected to remain until at least October 2027, then be withdrawn. Spreadsheet upload is not the same as a shared Excel file on a local drive. If you are choosing digital waste tracking software, prefer a listed API product.

DEFRA charges £26 per year per legal entity that creates or edits records on the Digital Waste Tracking Service once the service is mandatory. It is a government charge, separate from software. It is not billed by WEEE Manager.
