What waste compliance software has to prove
Duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 is simple to state and messy in a yard: take reasonable measures to prevent illegal deposit, describe the waste accurately, use a registered carrier, and keep the note. Waste compliance software is the system that makes those measures visible months later.

What is waste compliance software? +
It is software that keeps the records an inspector can ask for: waste transfer notes, hazardous consignment notes, EWC codes, walk-round vehicle checks, and an audit trail of who changed what. For UK firms in 2026 it also has to produce the digital fields a permitted receiving site needs for DEFRA’s Digital Waste Tracking Service.
Does this replace an environmental consultant? +
No. WEEE Manager stores operational evidence. Permit conditions, waste classification judgements and legal advice still sit with you and your advisors. The software stops the evidence being in three inboxes and a glovebox.
What is kept for an Environment Agency visit? +
WTNs (typically two years), hazardous consignment notes (typically three years), walk-round checks per vehicle and shift, user activity on notes, and — for receiving sites in Phase 1 — evidence that inbound loads were recorded in a form that can be submitted to DWTS.
How are EWC codes handled? +
